Finally, a way to get rich at the CV

(UPDATE: The paper sold for $9.50.) We tried to ignore the Voice solidifying its place at the kiddie table by playing along with the WWE's faked murder of Vince McMahon in Wilkes-Barre Township. But now that day's paper is going for $7.50 a pop on eBay. Who said there's no reward for bad journalism?

What's next?

"Bat Boy seen at Club Mardi Gras"?

News tip for the day: Some dude walked into the eBay store on Kidder Street with the hood allegedly from McMahon's limo. The store is now selling it on eBay. 695 Kidder St., Suite 13.

The fact that both the TL and CV covered this in such a fashion shows what amateurs they really are.

What's next? Calling police on Dec. 25 to investigate the multiple reports of a fat man breaking into people's houses through their chimneys?

It's a f------ television show!

I'm not from the Scranton/W-B area so I haven't read the coverage about the McMahon "blowup" there. Did the CV actually report that he had died? Were they going along with the joke or did they really think he perished. Either way is pathetic.

lol. That actually happened a few years ago. A father dressed up as Santa was climbing through a second floor window and a neighbor, not knowing, called police.

The "Federal investigation" is almost complete, and the results will supposedly be announced next Monday on a special three-hour edition of "WWE Raw." Can we expect the findings in Tuesday's papers?

Stop the Mr. McMahon coverup! Expose the TL/CV conspiracy! Go for that key valley demographic, mouth-breathers and knuckle draggers.

11:34 -- Did the CV actually report that he had died? Were they going along with the joke or did they really think he perished.

The headline, inside, said it was a hoax and detailed how it was done: permits from the Wilkes-Barre Township (not WB City), approval for the pyro company, the fact that it happened two days earlier.

It ended with a quote from, I think, the Wilkes-Barre Township police chief to the effect, "I wish Mr. McMahon a speedy recovery. He's probably in his suite in Trump Towers laughing like a bastard."

I just want to know if WWE bought some pigged-out limo from Thom Greco or some limo company. I can't see them spending full buck for something they're about to blow up.

Maybe next the TL or the Voice will do some important work - like investigating the HR problems at Dunder-Mifflin.

That's Scranton, TT territory. I think the TL and/or CV should investigate why Mayor McNuts never did get the Boulevard renamed from MLK to Paul Kanjorski, as he was going to do. Then it would have been King Kanjorski Boulevard, a fitting tribute.

Quick, someone get the script WNEP ran when it covered the WWE limo explosion. I'm sure that will fetch big bucks on eBay!

If I can find the plates over at the Voice tonight, how much will you pay me?

(Just joking; someone's probably beat me to it already.)

Larry Holeva is a cocksucker.

The CV was a day late with the coverage. The TL never played along with the hoax like the CV did.

Tom Carten said...

I thought they both came out with it on the same day. The CV with the Enquirer cover and the TL with the below the fold article.

TL played it above the fold but with a headline that didn't play along with the WWE hoax.

Tom Carten said...

Ok; bad memory. Thanks for the correction.

Larry Holeva is still a cocksucker.

Sources have it, the next day several CV staffers spoke up and basically spoke their mind saying that they thought the McMahon thing was a bad idea and shouldnt have been page one....sources also say that they were later chastised by Larry Holeva because he thought it was a "super idea"nothin like piss passing off as wine..

Yaaaawwwnn.

Don't know about anyone else, but the CVs front covers lately look like crap. Not just the Vince McMahon cover, but everyday. It's misleading giving readers the impression that it's the best story of the day, but open up the paper, and its the usual 12 inch story.

The CV looked professional when there were one or two pictures and a front page story down the left column.

A gut feeling, commonsense, instinct, a sense of the market, none of them a match for a low bid consultant.

Listen Larry Holeva is the smartest man in the newspaper biz and if he want useless twaddle on the front page let there be twaddle.

Many of us at the CV find our covers embarrassing. The TL must be thrilled, though.

the citizen's voice will do anything to try and increase sales...even if it involves turning into a tabloid for the thousands of fools out there to read
