First off, the Scranton reporters would whip McGlynn. Secondly, he criticized the Scranton media contingent circa 1989. Thirdly, his facts are wrong on the situation. As I understand, if the management group chooses not to purchase the team, the franchise will stay here. Whether the Yankees will or not is another story.
Wasn't the "Scranton Media Contingent" covering the Red Barons in 1989 named Larry Holeva?
This makes me laugh:http://youtube.com/watch?v=WOO5UtDjH_k
10:45. . .Interstingly, yes.
Mike Mcglynn is one of the few reporters left in the Wyoming Valley with any balls to tell it like it is.....hes one good muther.....
You know what i agree with the above,we need a few more writers who will throw back a beer (DONAHUES HOUR GLASS),than a martini, its all street creds. and Mikes earned them.
We downvalley folks just wrote off their sniffling about the name as fairly typical of standard Lackawanna County myopia, provincialism and paranoia. You downvalley folks invented myopic provincialism. I've lived in both valleys, called both valleys home, and downvalley-ites believe the world ends at Avoca. And for some of them, even that's a stretch.
There are so many factual errors in the column. He has a good topic, but needs an editor to get him out there reporting (or at least checking with a reporter) to see if he has it straight.
Yeah, we need more reporters who are factually wrong.
Mike never liked the Scranton area and especially dislikes Times Shamrock. How ironic. Anyway, he's right. The people up north have always looked down on Wyoming Valley denizens. I say fuck em all. Keep writing the truth, Mike. Fuck Holeva and his censorship of the truth.
You may agree with his opinion, but his facts were WRONG!!!!
Ah, McGlynn takes me back to the days before the Citizens Voice was spoiled by Times-Shamrock, when WWII-era staff used "Japs" in headlines and "negroid" in police beat. The memories...
You gotta love the tag "Mike McGlynn writes about politics and the scene generally on Fridays."It sounds like something from the '60s. He writes about "the scene," man. Far out!
McGlynn's head shot looks like a guy trying his darndest to squeeze out a stubborn turd.
Everything he writes is a stubborn turd
