Falchek Rocks!

Falchek has rocks?

Anonymous said...

Falchek is a pretentious douchebag. I hope, at least for his girlfriend's sake, that he comes out of the closet soon.

Anonymous said...

Blah, Blah, Blah.
Move on!

Anonymous said...

I hope that Falchek comes out of the closet soon too -- but for my sake! He's a dreamboat.

Anonymous said...

Falchek a dreamboat? VOM. I think you've been looking at those fat, hairy bastards on the 3rd floor for too long if Falchek is starting to look good to you

Anonymous said...

Not Falchek, Kemeney. Mmmmmmmmm.....ohhhhhhh

Why are you people so enraptured with newspaper work and the people who do it? You're in a profession in which you can't rise above $30,000 a year in this area unless you're in management (or somehow manage to pull off Janoski's coup). There's an equivalent occupation around here, pay range-wise. It's called grocery clerk!

Hey, 7:00 maybe were in the newspaper biz. because we don"t your job///Broken pickle jar isle 2!

BOING!

I didn't even know we (TL) were submitting to this one.

Anonymous said...

I know Dave Falchek, and I've been romantic with Dave Falchek.

None of the anti-Falchek posters know the real Dave Falchek.

Anonymous said...

7:50- That doesn't say much for you if Adams knew the TL was submitting to the PAPME and you didn't.

Mmmm. Kemeney in a grocery uniform. Crime dawwwwg. Oh my God. Woof Woof!

Come to Pasquales, your fine source of Italian cuisine and entrees in Hanover Township. A family atmosphere, an old-country flavor. Pasquales. Whether it's a Saturday afternoon pizza stop or a late-evening dinner and drink. Pasquales. Right on the Sans Siouxi, near K-Mart. Pasquales.

Obama is from the Ukraine.

Anonymous said...

It's not THE Ukraine, Just UKRAINE!

Not one says "The" Russia, or "The" Turkmenistan.

Anonymous said...

At one time THE Ukraine was correct and accepted.

Anonymous said...

what about borys and his bloyg?
biased reporter scum.

Anonymous said...

Just because he's a reporter doesn't mean he can't ever ever have an opinion again in his life.

It's called "editorial comment." As long as it doesn't seep into his regular reporting, it's perfectly acceptable.

Anonymous said...

just curious. Who's the editorial page editor at the TL now?

Anonymous said...

Isn't Sowers doing that these days

Anonymous said...

it's seeping into his regular reporting.
borys is for obama.
it's obvious.
take him off the beat.
if he wants to be a columnist be a columnist.
he's biased.

Anonymous said...

Who doesn't?

Anonymous said...

Congrats to Voice on the award on the debit card debacle. The Voice is winning awards for investigative journalism. That's quite a change. Oh and remember, when Rich Connor said the debit card debacle was a non story. What do you think now, Richie Rich?

Anonymous said...

If Falchek's in the closet, I need to date more gay men. The NEPA girls don't call that boy "The Polish Piston" for nothing.

Borys drank the Koolaid.
Borys is on the bus.

I make a motion that the phrase "Drank the Kool-Aid" be forever banned from this forum, and all other public discourse for that matter. I doubt most people who use it even know its genesis.

Can I get a second?

Anonymous said...

Second. It doesn't even make sense at this point.

Anonymous said...

you guys don't get it???

Anonymous said...

I SAY KEEP IT. TOTALLY RELEVANT.

The idiomatic expression, "drinking the Kool-Aid", was originally a reference to the Merry Pranksters, a group of people associated with novelist Ken Kesey who, in the early 1960s, traveled around the United States and held events called "Acid Tests", where LSD-laced Kool-Aid was passed out to the public (LSD was legal in the U.S. until 1966). Those who drank the "Kool-Aid" passed the "Acid Test". "Drinking the Kool-Aid" in that context meant accepting the LSD drug culture, and the Pranksters' "turned on" point of view. These events were described in Tom Wolfe's 1968 classic, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.

Currently the term is mostly associated with the 1978 cult suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple, convinced his followers to move to Jonestown. Late in the year, he then ordered his flock to commit suicide by drinking grape-flavored Flavor Aid laced with potassium cyanide. In what is now commonly called the "Jonestown Massacre", a large majority of the 913 people later found dead drank the brew. (The discrepancy between the idiom and the actual occurrence is likely due to Flavor Aid's relative obscurity, compared to the easily recognizable Kool-Aid.) The precise expression can be attested in usage at least as early as 1987[4]. The saying "Don't drink the Kool-Aid" now commonly refers to the Jonestown tragedy, meaning "Don't trust any group you find to be a little on the kooky side," or "Whatever they tell you, don't believe it too strongly." Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly is famous for using the term in this manner.

"Drink the Kool-Aid," is now also corporate-speak for immersing oneself in a cultlike culture. Appearing in the 1980s and later applied to many a dotcom staffer, the persistent expression clearly wasn't just the flavor of the month. The authors of Hard Drive (John Wiley, 1992), a book about Microsoft, quoted one employee observing of his coworkers, "If Bill [Gates] said drink Kool-Aid, they would do it." And The New York Times cited one analyst who said of certain Time Warner executives: "The AOL guys have got to stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get on the team."

Having "drunk the Kool-Aid" also refers to being a strong or fervent believer in a particular philosophy or mission -- wholeheartedly or blindly believing in its virtues.

Anonymous said...

Um yeah... we got that. It's old hat. Asshat.

Anonymous said...

Man,

NEPA MEDIA needs to add more. 7 days with no new topics makes other posts pretty boring.

Anonymous said...

11:58, nice cut and paste job from Wikipedia. But shouldn't we cite our sources?

Anonymous said...

You're absolutely correct. My source is Wikipedia. I wasn't trying to scam anyone into thinking I wrote it. Hell -- it's anonymous. Anyhow, I put it there for those who may be too young for the K-A reference ... since some are saying it's irrelevant.

Anonymous said...

Butch and Aimee need to realize they are too good for NEPA.

Anonymous said...

I think Butch really loves it here, though. He's not just a great photographer but one of the most positive people I've ever met in my life.

Anonymous said...

I would normally not drink the Kool Aid, but it depends where it's coming from, who the server is, and what exciting things might happen to me if I oblige.
Sometimes, you can't get enough Kool Aid. And sometimes, you taste shitty grape-flavored Kool Aid and want no more. Conner's Kool Aid is grape-flavored, that's for sure

Anonymous said...

Borys drank the Kool-Aid.
Kesey would not let him on the bus.
Obama does.
Assign an unbiased reporter.
Borys is clearly biased and favors Obama.
It shows in his reporting.

Anonymous said...

So what that Borys is biased. O'Boyle acts like a teenage girl waving pom poms whenever Hillary comes to town, so in reality, both of their biases cancel each other out and the truth emerges somewhere in the middle. I know that not less than 90 percent of what O'Boyle says in a Clinton-related article after she's been in town is nothing more than star-struck fanaticism. You recognize the same inverse principle with Borys. So, no harm, no foul. As long as awareness of these biases exists, it's all good. And trust me, no one can read an O'Boyle article and NOT pick up the slant.

Anonymous said...

using the term "drank the KoolAid" is stretching it, don't you think? You're using a corporate term to apply to someone's political beliefs. So what if he's voting for Obama. So am I. Does that mean those voting for Hillary or McCain drank their "KoolAid"?

Everyone is voting for someone, unless you're one of those lazy bastards who wants to say "I hate politics so I'm not voting for anyone" but yet you're the first to complain about the state of the country.

As for the political slant, I've never read a straight news story from Borys that shows bias. Editorials, of course... but so what? Maureen Dowd does it. Leonard Pitts does it. MAnn Coulter does it. Personally, I find Roderick Random a refreshing change from Kelly's uninformed whining.

Luckily we live in a democracy and we have freedom of choice. You don't like Borys' so-called biased reporting? Guess what? YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ IT! See how that works? So many people complain about the Times-Tribune, yet I see very few of these people canceling their subscriptions. A business cannot succeed if people don't stand behind it. So if you have a problem with the fact that the Times-Tribune is the only newspaper that covers Scranton, blame yourself. Because if this town could sustain a second newspaper, it would.

Love Borish's Sunday 3/30 story with a Johnston dateline about Obama. Question should be asked: Would Borish had made the trip if Hillary visited Johnston? I think not.

Anonymous said...

Yes, if Hillary offered access to a statewide bus tour, Borys would be there in Johnstown and elsewhere. Watch and see, if she offers.

By the way... hard to see any alleged pro-Obama bias in the story headlined "Obama faces skepticism in hard-hit Johnstown."

This is all dishonest criticism. First you say his stories are pro-Obama, and when the stories aren't that you question whether he'd go to Johnstown to cover Hillary, with no evidence that he wouldn't.

Truth: he's the best political beat reporter by far in the region and maybe in the state, and HUGE kudos to the TT for having the commitment to pay to send him on a six-day road assignment. I don't see the no-paycheck-this-week TL sending a reporter out there.

Lets see which presidential visit Borish will attend on Tuesday in Wilkes-Barre? My money is on Obama.

Anonymous said...

Of course he's going to attend the Obama campaign, he's on the tour bus you fucktard.

Please educate yourself about how journalism outside of NEPA, kthanxbye.

Anonymous said...

What I think the previous poster was trying to say, albeit without the benefit of eloquence or Prozac, is that when a reporter is assigned to or invited on a presidential hopeful's tour that reporter is assigned to report on that particular candidate.

Despite Borys' obvious leanings toward Obama, I don't see this as a blatant disregard for journalistic bias. YMMV.

Anonymous said...

If you did not know where Drank the Kool-Aid originated from in the first place, then you are a young 'un.
The Latin cut and paster must be the same gal who cut and paste "you people are losers" on the Sandy Snyder thread.
Mr. NEPA MEDIA, will you please come back? We miss you NEPA, oh yes we do. We don't love anyone, as much as you. When you're not with us, we're blue. Oh, NEPA, we love you.
