Rich Connor sells his business "paper" in Fort Worth

It's too hard running the paper in Wilkes-Barre and the paper in Texas, the Times Leader reported Sunday, and Richard Connor has sold to... a group that owns nothing but tiny Ohio newspapers? How strange. Their biggest newspaper is in Dayton, Ohio. Be sure to read Connor's Fort Worth column, full of self-administered applause and including his bizarre recollection of an incident 30 years ago where he didn't get a public BJ that he was expecting -- no, he was entitled to.

  • Connor's farewell to his public in Texas, which sets a record for self-agrandizing

It seems to be a perfect fit for Brown Publishing.

The company, led by conservative Republican Roy, gets its foot into Repub nation.

And this is news to NEPA why?

If they didn't report on it, you'd be questioning that, too.

Sounds like he's digging his spurs into NEPA.

Why did the TL not report on the controversy about Judge Stevens basically standing arm-in-arm with Lou Barletta the other day on the immigration issue? It was all over the Philly Inquirer on Tuesday. Huge controversy. It seems some feel an appelate court judge taking such a public political stance is a major misconduct. Yet nothing in the TL, and it's in their own backyard. Guess we just gotta go to Philly to get our news

Personally, I would be glad if no one covered that idiot Barletta from here on out. It's the fact that a total moron like Lou continues to get attention in the press that makes him relevant at all. If it wasn't for the press, he would just be another no name, small town, doesn't count for anything, prejudice mayor. Sometimes when I read stuff about Barletta I forget I'm in NEPA and not think I'm in Alabama some place. I find it intersting in an area that has held on to its immigrant roots so strongly (Russian, Italian, Middle Eastern and so on) that folks would actually support a mayor that is ademently opposed to an entire group of immigrants. I wonder what Pittston would look like today if the first mayor was ademently opposed to Italians.

From 2:56: "I find it intersting in an area that has held on to its immigrant roots so strongly (Russian, Italian, Middle Eastern and so on) that folks would actually support a mayor that is ademently opposed to an entire group of immigrants."

The area isn't ademently opposed to an entire group of immigrants. The area is ademently opposed to ILLEGAL immigrants.

That is a very simply way of thinking in terms of referring to this group as Illegal Aliens. Its true, by the laws of today many of these folks are here illegally. But, is that a result of Hispanic folks trying to become members of our community deciding to break the law, or is that a result of Hispanics wanting to be members of our community being unable to work with that law.

I wonder how many illegal aliens we would have had around the turn of the century if the immigration laws were as ridiculously rigid then as they are today. Case in point, in the Times Leader today(Friday, September 28th) there is a front page article about the new citizenship test. I can guarantee you that 90% of the seniors graduating this year from high school couldn't answer the questions mentioned in this article. So why, along with all the other rancorous guidelines and requirements, should a person trying to become a citizen be expected to know this. Here is what should be required... can speak at a basic level of English, clearly communicate their reason for wanting to be a citizen, pass a criminal background check from the country of origin and ours, and agree to be governed by the laws of this land in regards to paying taxes and so on.

Make it simple and we have no more illegal alien problem and we can more efficiently kick out the ones that shouldn't be here in the first place.
