Hazleton paper wins APME award

The Standard-Speaker of Hazleton won second place in a Pennsylvania APME contest for its coverage of immigration issues in the commonwealth's highest city.

Just goes to show you how meaningless these award things are. The Standard-Speaker is as god-awful a newspaper as you'll find in any town, anywhere.

That's kinda harsh...

There was a good story...it just happened to be in Hazleton.

And since the Standard-Speaker doesn't have much to cover otherwise -- they could dig dip into the topic.

I think it's slightly unfair to all them the god-awful paper.

And why would they be closed?

They're the only paper that covers the Hazleton area.

The Standard-Speaker can't even spell things correctly, let alone write a good story. "God-awful" is very fitting.
