Chis Kelly on news meetings, library crime

Editors at the Times-Tribune of Scranton are having meetings about meetings, if Chris Kelly is to be believed.

Jesus...I've never read more tedious writing in my life.

It was kind of funny, lighten up.

ooohhh, I started reading it but I dozed off. What a bunch of wasted ink. If TS is serious about making money, they would have saved the newsprint for serious stuff.

I tried to read it, but the website was unavailable

The world is falling apart and we get this clunker?

Yes, it was "kind of" funny, somewhat humor-like, quasi-witty. But brevity is the soul of wit.
It would have been twice as good if it was half as long.

Doesn't this whole scenario -- writing about the meetings you attend in the office, quoting a co-worker again, reprinting old news items that you saw on news-of-the-weird type sites weeks ago -- just scream out: "I'm bored and have nothing to say!"?
Kelly, lift your butt and get out of the office for a change.

I enjoyed the column. He takes a little swipe at his employer, the average Joe can appreciate that.

If you can't say it in 15.5 inches, you're not a columnist. You're just a guy who doesn't have editors.

Kelly's piece gives a nice insight into the world of Times-Shamrock and Larry Beaupre.
It shows what a bunch of fucking assholes are running the place. Beaupre, and that fuck Holeva in Wilkes-Barre, waste a tremendous amount of time in useless meetings. Holeva uses them as forums to tell dim-witted jokes about Lackawanna County to people from Luzerne County who could give two shits about what happens up the line.
Hey assholes, spend less time wasting other people's times and try putting out better products.
Nice piece Chris!

Beaupre's a funny guy, Ho-la, not so much.

I like Kelly and I think he's a good guy and all...but it's a real bad sign how often I skip ahead on the column to try to get to his point. And I think I'm much more patient with his thousand-word opus magnum than the average reader.

Let's be honest, even in his funniest moments Kelly is doing Dave Barry circa 1995.

There's a sign about "meetings" on the wall of Senior District Judge Barilla's office in Luzerne County Central Court, Wilkes-Barre: "Tired of working? Don't want to make decisions? Hold meetings, the sensible alternative to work."
