'Designer?'

He's a disgrace to the word. It's always funny how the word 'designer' is thrown around by newspapers to make paginators sound more important than they really are.

He didn't design anything. He put together a puzzle every night.

Wow, that first comment is really uncalled for. Fucci did a great job for the paper during his time there. It's too bad some who are too insecure about their own abilities choose to take shots at others.

Without commenting directly on Fucci's skills or lack of skills (or "skillz," if you like) isn't 95 percent of page designing at the TL really just paginating? Fucci's long gone. Pick up tomorrow's paper and tell me how much engaging design you see.

OK, as far as designing the paper ... Speak not if you know not ...

The one thing I will say is, at the best papers, design and reporters work together.

AND... I will bet my farm, house, first born. etc ...

Design does play a part in the overall picture at the TL ....

At best, a page "designer" has one or two pages relatively clean of ads with which to work with daily. Otherwise, what's to design with a block of ads across half or more of a page? Big deal.
