At the end of the day Wednesday, two Scranton Times-Tribune alumni had the two top stories on Jim Romenesko's Obscure Store site. Matthew Kemeny of The Patriot-News in Harrisburg had a story about all the madness at the Susquehanna Township Chuck E. Cheese, while Lauren Roth of the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va. had a story about a schoolteacher who was running an escort service on the side. Kudos to all. (Both stories have since moved down the page a bit.)

Times-Tribune alumni hit the Obscure Store daily double
At the end of the day Wednesday, two Scranton Times-Tribune alumni had the two top stories on Jim Romenesko's Obscure Store site. Kemeny's got stories on that site every other day. I don't think he's very obscure anymore.
Why did he leave Scranton?
Because he got a better job at the Patriot News.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's cool to have one of your stories listed by Romenesko, but it's really no great feat. I mean, he doesn't choose entries based on the quality of the reporting or writing, but on the topic itself. You catch a quirky story, and have enough of a pulse to realize it,and you're in luck.
