WTF?!? Lane Filler is "Ask Mr. Smartypants"

So we were sitting here watching the Republican debate in South Carolina and we wondered, "Is Lane Filler involved in campaign coverage?" Little did we imagine how involved he was.

Can't we please throw him under the campaign bus?

If he's so effing smart why is he just following his wife's career around.

Some would say that is a smart move by a husband.

Can't stomach either of them. They were just a big drain on the TL. I would happily throw them both under any bus.

I cringe thinking of the numbers of outside journos who stumble on this site and realize what a collection of bitter, angry, stupid, anti-semitic, misogynistic and otherwise juvenile losers inhabit NEPA journalism.

What a zoo.

Yeah, they all live in Lackawanna County.

Who looks sexier, him in that photo or Wernowsky in his ass-crack-showing beltless kordoroy days?

I AGREE W/ 5:47. But some live in Luz Cty, and most of them have been canned by the TL, or gently demoted, to save face. Please, all of you former TLers, especially the women, get over it!

I think it's funny, and predictable, the way anyone who actually leaves the Tl and goes to success somewhere else is criticized. Guess it makes the losers too scared to fill out a resume or take a chance feel better about themselves.

Yeah, yeah, I know South Carolina can't match the glory of WB.

The phenomenon you described, I don't think the TL has the market cornered on that within NEPA media circles.

I've encountered people at all three print publications who feel the need to diminish the accomplishments of others, rather than celebrate them and use them as personal motivation. It's sad indeed.

I think you have that because there's so much cross-pollenation between the publications. I mean, at the TL alone you have Fennick, Venesky, Lewis and perhaps one or two others who once worked at the Voice and probably have axes to grind. Likewise at Shamrock -- if for only a short period -- you've got former TLers like McNarney and Lazar. Bitter feelings run deep, and the river of time can't carry those feelings far enough downstream to make them irrelevant. Add a few out-of-town eliteists (guys like Filler, Wernowsky and Fox, who i believe all still post here) and you have the unique poisonous cocktail that is NEpA journalists' water cooler chat. Instead of reducing ourselves to engaging in Mr nepamedia's constant game of rabble rousing and frat-house banter, why not let our work as journalists speak for itself. Why don't we try to rise above all this by devoting our efforts to our craft, not childish name-calling. We're all as bad as the people at the county courthouse, which I guess ain't all that bad in the eyes of Connor and Guydish, judging by the former's column and the latter's postings on this site

Don't forget Shecter and Janosky at the Voice.
