"I won't be allowed to talk about my job, ever," he writes. Noted.No word if he will be replaced or if DC will run as a subsidiary of Electric City.

I have known Gene for years. I thought his column tended to be a bit obvious at times and while I wouldnt exactly put him in Pete Hammil territory, at least he had a voice - an actual definable point-of-view. Few of you do. I have yet to see anyone in this market come close to generating this kind of vehement passion among his peers. I think most of the posts you read here are from pissed off reporters who resent having to supress any actual creative impulses in the drudgery of the god-awful grabage that they are chained to.
I agree with 10:47. Gene had a soap box you losers have to wrote about chicken dinners and the like. Reporters have NO say over what they write and that bothers you losers. Hey St. Maria is having a fund raiser, give me a story pronto. Hehehe. You idiots have to cover what we editors say.

Gene was probably making at least $40,000 per year as editor. The Weekender GM made in excess of $50,000 per year several years ago and most Weekender AEs, if you're good, make close to $40,000 annually. TS definitely bettered Gene's Weekender pay.

First off, Gene comes from a military background from when he was a kid, I've talked to him after he got out of basics and guess what; he graduated top of his class. Gene is one of the strongest(and obviously one of the most opinionated people I know)that has always prevailed at what ever he put his focus towards.
