Matt Kemeny leaving The Scranton Times for Harrisburg
Kudos to Matt Kemeny and to replacement Kimm Montone, who escapes the North Pocono beat. Kemeny is off to cover cops for the Patriot-News in Harrisburg, John Murphy reports in an e-mail to the staff.
The Harrisburg paper is nearly twice the size of the Scranton paper. I'm sure he is getting a raise, and The Patriot is quite possibly the best paper in the state right now. Unquestionably a good move.
No doubt a big step up. Good luck, crime dog. But the person who called the Patriot "quite possibly the best paper in the state right now" needs to read more papers.
Good reporter for NEPA, but overrated. It isn't like he's leaving some great legacy of awards, investigations and kick-ass exposes. Would we even remember the guy if not for Ed Christine inventing "Crime Dog"?
Didn't I read somewhere early this year that someone thought the Patriot-News was in the running for a Pulitzer for the Selinsgrove cancer stories? I didn't read them because cancer-cluster stories are usually bullshit. Anyway, what are the details of the "screw-up?"
Couldn't agree more with 9:38 p.m. I mean, nothing personal, but the guy was fair to middling. Early on, I thought he had some good potential, but the more I got to know him and his work, the less I potential for anything other than an inflated ego I saw. He reaped the benefit of hype, and being one of Christine's faves. Not bad, just not that good either.

Murphy's a tool.
I thought Kimm was a broad's name.
There's too m's -- that makes it masculine.
Isn't the Harrisburg paper about the same size as Scranton? Is he getting a raise? Why would he do this otherwise?
Doh, have you seen Wilkes-Barre? Have you seen Harrisburg? Why ask why?

Love that sexy, come-hither look, C.D.

Agreed. The Harrisburg Patriot News is an over-rated paper. Anybody remember when the screwed up that cancer story in Selinsgrove? I do.
