Though you have to wonder about someone held out as an authority on local politics but who evidently hasn't talked to the chairwoman of the county commissioners since he ran into her at the movies more than a year ago.

Former state legislator and local political figure Kevin Blaum wrote his first Times Leader column on Sunday. Pure vanilla, no ax grinding.
