James J. Haggerty Jr. to speak at Friendly Sons dinner

For you Lynett/Haggerty family groupies, be sure to catch James J. Haggerty Jr. when he speaks March 16 at Genetti Manor in Dickson City. The former Scranton Times employee later embarked on a career as basketball coach.

    I love when the dinner falls on a Friday and being Lent the Bishop grants a special dispensation to eat meat at their dinner because corned beef goes better with a case of scotch than fish does. "We sacrifice and reflect on the meaning of Lent on Fridays during the Holy season...unless it gets in the way of our annual sons of the old sod boozefest. Hey, the Bishop knows what side the bread is buttered on."
