Kudos to the Voice in W-B hammer attack

The Citizens' Voice had all the goods today after a guy burst into a Plains hair salon Friday and beat the grandmas there with a hammer. The TL only had one name and fairly weak second-hand accounts. The Voice had all the names, a picture of one of the grannies in the hospital, and lots of other detail. (The TL did get a shot of the gross-looking perp as he was arrested). Kudos.

  1. Thanks for finally noticing that we beat them all the time.

  6. Truthfully, I think it was noted here because the CV actually did a better job for once.

Usually, it's not as good as the TL.

  7. The Sunday paper was even worse. The Voice had -all- the names, ages, hometowns, and conditions, as well as a juicy interview with the deadbeat who hung out all afternoon with the perp. Ed Lewis and the TL had -no- names and some weak-ass shit from the arraignment. The story wasn't even on page one, in favor of wire copy and some shit about a camp for kids in Wayne County. Point: CV.

  10. This was a MAJOR one. It made CNN, and the TL had shit. So much for local news. But you'll get your useless TL news by 5 a.m.
Ed Lewis is lame, and mean.

  11. Give the CV credit, they had info the TL did not. I know this is probably going set everyone off, but who used to be the key person in pushing breaking news at the TL? It's your old favorite Iseman.
You have to admit, a hammer smashing bandit is a story he would have beat the hell out of until no one cared.

  12. Is Iseman turning over in his grave again?
Oh, wait a minute. He's not legally dead.

  13. It shouldn't take Iseman or an Iseman-like character to get a reporter out on the street. For fuck's sake, all the names were in the Voice on Saturday morning. How hard can it be to visit a handful of houses and just confirm the names?

So much for Ed Lewis and his vaunted law enforcement Rolodex. If I didn't know better, I'd think that his sources have stiffed him because he went across the street to the "scab" TL.

I dare anyone to say this to Ed's face

  15. Man, the CV finally beats the TL and it gets headlines? That, my blogger friends, goes to show how pathetic the CV really is. Headlines, even in blogs, occur when something doesn't normally happen. Therefore, the CV doesn't normally (if ever) beat the TL .....remember John Doe.

  16. Remember the drowning at the Wapwallopen swimming hole? The TL got the kids name wrong. Yep, two "rare" victories for the CV in one week.

  17. I agree with 10:32 and they also kicked ass photowise on the drowning.Great emotion shot!!!!!

  23. The Voice frequently beats the Leader. They killed them on the Lokuta outing the federal investigation everyone was trying to get in the paper for weeks. And last week they were ahead on the chamber being broke.

  24. The TL had the investigation stuff first. Remember the Connor column?

  25. There is no way Connor's column counts. It was hapless. He threw his own staff under the bus by flat out admitting they couldn't confirm rumors the paper had been hearing for weeks.

  26. WTF? The Voice didn't confirm it yet either.
