That according to the Times-Tribune's Matt Kemeny, who reports on the newspaper and other minority business ventures in Scranton.

Looked up the definition of "melanian," to wit: "Me*la"ni*an, n. (Zo["o]l.) One of a family of fresh-water pectinibranchiate mollusks, having a turret-shaped shell." (Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, 1996).
ReplyDeleteNo other definitions are given. Assuming the paper is *not* serving the interests and issues of pectinibranchiated NEPA residents, is the paper's name a play on (or misspelling of) "melanin?"
I just found this and am flattered. To answer the question on the name: This on may go over some people's head but/because it's an African Proverb, "until the Lion writes his story the Hunter will forever be glorified."
ReplyDeleteto simplify it, a nation with one perspective loses much meaning...even in the dictionary.
Try reading the Darwin Documents. his theories were developed using two races: "Causcian" consisting of all the white groups and "Melanian" consisting of all the dark groups.
and yes it is a derivative of "melanin."
