Huge news: Pocono Record editor resigns

Kim de Bourbon, editor of the Pocono Record, quit. Or was fired. Hard to tell. She will be joining Allison Walzer and Casey Jones in a new Audiotex venture based in Nanticoke.

  • EARLIER: de Bourbon Writes about naming the wrong guy in a fatal car crash and about shaking up the comics page -- all in one column!

    1. Times Tribune's top story today is the Top 20 stories of the year...and their presentation goes from 20 to 16.... and that's it....Anybody else see that?

Plus their No. 2 story is Chris Kelly's 12 days of Christmas...still....

      It's a lame-a-thetic!!!

    2. Seriously, where did Casey Jones end up? Is he still in the area?

      Use the scroll bar retard.

    6. He's right, there's a scrollbar but it's clunky and doesn't work well, it's hard to get to the story you want.

I found the package pointless because it's not really the top stories of the year, just the most-clicked-on. Joby's football preview is one of the top stories of the year??

We all know how these lists work -- if you get linked to some kind of "news of the weird" site, like the faceless dog in the frying pan -- a story that didn't even run on the front page, if I recall correctly -- you get lots of hits. It's got nothing to do with what's a top story.

Not to mention that the stories are poorly edited ("a pack a bubble gum" in #4??)

Typical Times Tribune, in other words, just kind of half-baked and half-assed and not well executed.

      Hooray!!

Of course the top web stories are going to be based on web hits. WTF else would you base them on? We'll forward your message to Al Gore and have him fix the Internet so only local hits count.

You are such an asshole know-it-all.

    9. The top 10 NEPA stories of the year, for me, would include the Hugo Selenski trial, the casino boom, Hazleton's jihad against the furriners, the sale of the Times Leader and G-Mac's run through the Big East tourney. None of which are in the top 20 most-read stories.

Do you also think the Pulitzers should be based on clicks?

Meanwhile, scrolling through the list again, I noticed the football preview was written by Joby "Facett". Talk about freakin' amateur hour.

So, yeah, I'm an asshole know-it-all. The Times Tribune could use a few know-it-alls.

    10. I love the nastiness here.
That fuck Iseman got canned. I hope that bitch Fennick is next.

    11. She's city editor now. Allison's idiotic team concept is now also history.

    12. Looks like it's called 20 most read stories...what's Mitchell blabbering about? Where's the confusion? Top is different from most.

    13. This is crazy Since July, the TL has lost:

      Sue Kahlu - vp, sales/marketing
      Donnell Giles - vp, circulation
      Brian Malina - newsroom editor
      Todd Meyers - newsroom editor
      Kurt Kanapek - newsroom editor

Mike Liechty - head copy editor
      Dave Janoski - top reporter

      Are there more??????

That's probably well over 1 million in salaries. Some quit. Some were let go. Most were good people and good at what they did. What is going on at that crazy place?

      ReplyDelete
    14. You forgot Casey Jones, another big name. It does seem like the place has no identity right now. At least that old whiz-kid Jim McDonald is back in the fold. (insert sarcasim here)

      Fatty McHugh, enough said.

A new day is dawning in Wilkes-Barre. Things are getting better and better. I like reading the Times Leader a lot more now than I ever did. Disclaimer: I do not work in the newspaper industry.

    17. Yes but thet hired the CV outdoor writer, so it's all even now.

      She's fuckin' scary!!! 4:32 PM

Ok, so she's got a good face for newspaper work. What do either of those ad hominem (ad wominem) statements have to do with her abilities to edit the paper? I've seen reporters and editors at newspapers who could go one-on-one pictorially with Charlie Weiss.

Nothing, and who said it did?
If she was a guy who looked like Charlie Weis, we'd be commenting on that, too.

    20. 5:35 and 4:32 make remarks unconnected to the story. No, they were not connected to her talents, but you could see it from there. And they aren't what I expect from people I assume are professionals in this business.

    21. Loved the Charlie Weiss reference. Maybe he's going to replace Iseman.

    22. Looks like the Record pays well for this region. $75k-$100k for a paper that's not even 30k circulation?
