Former TL, T-T reporters turn up on Iowa campaign trail

Former Times Leader and Times-Tribune reporters Mike McNarney and Lauren Roth ended up in The Des Moines Register after they spent their Christmas vacation trying to get their new baby's picture taken with everyone running for president during the recently-concluded Iowa caucuses.

  2. Great story, and a great keepsake for the kid.

  4. See that funny look on Hillary's face in that picture? That's her forcing a smile while secretly asking herself whether the terrible smell is from the baby or the Rothnarney.

  5. It is a great keepsake for the kid but it's not like he/she will have any recollection of ever meeting any of these people. What a waste.

  6. Disgusting. Real journalists run screaming from greasy pols, they don't hand them their infants like some sort of ritual sacrifice.

Well, McNasty's not a real journalist anyway (unless you consider this journalism), but you gotta wonder what the Mrs. was thinking.

  7. Yuck. From right to left each one's more disgusting than the one before. That poor baby.

  11. Yes, the baby is breathtaking. (think Seinfeld)

  12. Hauling a month-old baby around to campaign events in wintry Iowa is beyond stupid. Anyone who'd do that to their own kid and post the pictures on a web site should be forcibly neutered.

  13. If you know Lauren, you guys would know she (and Mike) would never do ANYTHING - in any way, shape or form - to harm a child. There are many doctors who believe you should take babies out like this because it helps them build up an immunity so they do not get sick all the time. This is a cool memory for this child when the baby grows up. They look happy and I say good for them. Lord knows it's hard to find happiness in this world. Whether you like them or not, there's no need to say such mean things about an innocent baby. That's just pathetic.

A lot of innocent people have suffered at the hands of those two. They opened this door by whoring out the kid this way.

Besides, the baby will be grown up and spouting condescending platitudes to its classmates in a few years and never see a word of this.

  17. Jeezus H. Christ on a pogo stick. You people are rotten, soulless excuses for human beings. McNarney is among the most genuinely good people I've ever known.

No wonder anyone I respect gets the hell out of S W-B as soon as they can.

  18. "McNarney" and "genuinely good" do not belong in the same sentence together.
